I believe honesty is the best policy. With that being said, prepare yourself for what I am about to tell you.
It can be hard being patient with God’s timing.
I know that’s not really an ideal statement, but it’s true for me. It’s not easy, but I will agree that it is so rewarding!
Patience is hard work, especially when the circumstances around you are not ideal. The enemy will use that against you and cloud your mind with doubt and even fear. You will find yourself questioning God and all that he is doing. Sometimes you might even want to do things your way to get the results you want. Well let me tell you now, that is the worst thing you can do.
The enemy will do everything in its power to tarnish your faith in God. It will put questions in your mind that you will want to scream, “God, why are you doing this? I told you what I want and you are not listening to me!” Or when you spend a significant amount of time bettering yourself for something or someone but things still are not lining up in your favor. You may even feel like demanding from Him: “God I’m ready and you won’t bless me!”
Do any of these sound familiar? Don’t feel bad. We’ve all been there.
I think the main factor missing from either scenario is trust. I’m learning that you have to trust His timing and trust His process. There’s no other way around that. If there’s no trust, there will be no blessings. You will find that trusting wholeheartedly will not always be easy. There will be moments where you feel you are in a rut and are unsure of what to do, especially if you see your friends and family obtaining wonderful blessings all around you. There will even be a hint of jealousy. When will it be your turn? Are you next in line to receive your blessings?
Trusting the Lord can also be difficult to do if you are not sure where you want to be in life. You could be stuck in this place where your purpose is unclear. Do I pack everything up and move across the country with little to no money? Am I doing what God wants me to do? Why can’t I hear Him? You will not have all the answers right away, and I don’t think anyone ever does. Hearing God’s voice is hard! I still have not mastered that skill...but I will. We just have to remember: God is always on time.
Just this morning, I was scrolling through Instagram and stumbled across a photo with a snippet from either a book or article. Someone from my acting class posted the photo, but I needed to read it. Just last night I could feel the enemy trying to ruin my mood and put doubt in my mind. But look at the photo:
Read it, and read it again. Read every word! How beautiful! The Lord is telling you to trust Him. He has everything under control and He is in your corner. He’s not saying that nothing will ever test you, but He is saying that He will be your tutor. He’s waiting on you. Like I said earlier, it will not be easy but it will be worth it in the end.
I want to leave you with three things:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8)
